First Gig in Granada at Imagine Restaurant and Bar

I finally played my first gig here in Granada at a great little restaurant and bar called Imagine, after the classic John Lennon song. Several months ago I emailed the owner, Kevin, out of the blue asking if he had any slots open. I figured he was probably booked solid and would tell me he could fit me in sometime in the next few months, during which time I could practice for the show. I was wrong. He responded asking if I could play that very Friday night from night from 8pm – 11pm! I was in no way prepared for something that soon since I had done no serious practice since arriving here in August. I explained this and declined, promising that I would be in touch again in a few weeks, after I’d had time to practice. We’ve Moved Three Times in Three Months

We’ve been here just short of three months and we’ve already moved three times. Luckily every place we’ve moved into has been furnished, so it’s not like it was a huge nightmare at any point. The first place we lived in was the little vacation rental at The Garden Cafe. Our original plan was to come to Granada for a week to see if we like it. Then head back to our home in Texas and mull over the idea before making a final decision on whether to move. Well, the way things turned out – which I’ll write about in more detail later – the option to just go to Granada and not come back became the best option. That sounds sketchy, but don’t worry…we aren’t international fugitives or anything…it was more of a timing issue.
